Maintaining your combination lock Defibrillator Cabinet

Important maintenance on your Defib Cabinet

We are sending you this email as you have purchased one of our Defib Store Yellow Secure Cabinets. Recent weather in New Zealand has triggered us to remind customers that maintenance is needed on your cabinet to ensure it is always in good working order and that you get an extended life span on your product.

The Defib Store staff maintain one of our first ever yellow cabinets, beach front at Takapuna Beach in Auckland. This has been there 7 years and on a recent visit we saw that the numbers on the keypad entry had become stiff to push. After some short maintenance the cabinet is back in perfect working order but it prompted us to remind our customers to do the same.

Advised Regular Maintenance

At least one “guardian” should be nominated to check and maintain the cabinet on a regular basis.

Spray the lock keypad with CRC or WD40 every couple of months to lubricate and clean the locks internal mechanisms, pressing all keys in and out several times to work the lubricant into the mechanism.

If you do not have one of these you can purchase in most hardware stores or online at The Defib Store

Be sure to press the C (Clear) key to reset the lock ready for use.

It is advised that the cabinet is opened weekly for a general check to test that the lock remains fully functional, the light illuminates on opening when it is dark and to ensure that the defib/cabinet always has the correct accessories ready for a real emergency.

If the light does not illuminate in your weekly check, this will be due to the batteries depleting.

Replace the 4 x AAA batteries every 12 months to prevent this. Clean the cabinet monthly, this will maintain and add further protection to the paint finish on the cabinet.

As you have the cabinet open, check you battery and pads in the Defibrillator. Contact us if any questions or issues.
